Online Roulette Guide – Spin and Win!

Spin and win with Joe's online roulette guide

Roulette is one of the most popular games in the world, and it has been for centuries. Ancient Roman soldiers played something similar to pass the time between battles. Then the French took all the credit in the 17th century and deemed it Roulette, meaning “small table”. Um, yeah. Cool…

Thanks, France. Onya! But unlike the fellas in times gone by, nowadays you can get all the online Roulette jollies straight from home. I even took to writing this handy online Roulette guide, so you can even play with a higher chance of winning. We’ve got it so easy nowadays.

Without further retrospective musings, let’s talk online Roulette. Here. Now. Today. This online Roulette guide will cover it all, and get you pumped up to deposit and play now. That’s how we roll. Or spin, as it were.

1. How Online Roulette Works

In a land casino, the outcome relies on the speed of the wheel, weight of the ball, or hand of the croupier. Not so much in online Roulette. Everything is determined by a random number generator (RNG). That’s good for you because it’s reliable and fair. All you have to do is select your bet type and make your wager.

To play at Joe’s, do this:

  • Select “Roulette” from the game menu and choose your game. HINT: if you’re on mobile, the games with the blue background are for you.
  • Click/tap on the type of bet you want
  • Select your bet amount ($1, $5, $25, $100)
  • Spin the wheel. If the ball lands on the number or color you bet on, you win. Yay!

Okay, now let’s go over the rules.

2. Online Roulette Rules

The beauty of online Roulette is that there are tons of different bets, with heaps of possible outcomes. You can bet on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 17, or 18 numbers. They’re broken down by inside and outside bets. Both inside and outside bets have a max bet of $500. If you’re playing on mobile, your max bet is $100 for any spin.

Here’s my trusty online Roulette guide breakdown for the different bets and their payouts, which will make far more sense of the previous paragraph.

3. Difference Between European and American Roulette

American Roulette and European Roulette are nearly indistinguishable on the wheel. Two peas in a pod? Nearly. They both have alternating red and black pockets with a green “0” pocket. American Roulette has 38 pockets altogether, and European Roulette has 37.

The main difference between the two is that American Roulette shows numbers from 1 to 36, as well as a zero (0) and a double zero (00). Because of the extra zero, the house edge in American Roulette is higher at 5.4%.

European Roulette also shows numbers 1-36. But it only has one green pocket – a zero (0). Having only one zero increases the odds in your favor, and the house edge is only 2.7%.

4. Online Roulette Strategy

For starters, in comparison to American Roulette, European Roulette has a better house edge. So you’ve already got a leg up for playing that version.

If you’re all about action, want bigger payouts, and aren’t afraid of taking some risk, focus on straight-up bets. Winning one number pays out 35:1.

If you’d rather stay longer in the game, lower your risk and make smaller but frequent wins, then it’s best to go with small, even-money bets. Things like betting on the red/black color, or even/odd number is a solid choice, and pays out 1:1.

And there you have it: the online Roulette guide for the winner emerging in you. Pick your game: American Roulette or European Roulette. Place your bet (go for straight up, baby!), spin the wheel, and collect your payday. Easy, yeah? Well, why are you still here? Talk time is over – it’s time to conquer that wheel.
